This article provides an overview of the Opportunity Page in Federal Compass. You’ll learn how to navigate each tab, understand the information displayed, and use the available tools to support your opportunity tracking and decision making.
Navigate to the Opportunity Summary Page
- Navigate to Opportunities on the left side of the platform.
- Click Opportunity Search.
- From the search results, click the title of any opportunity you want to view.
- This will open the opportunity’s main overview for the opportunity.

Review Key Details on the Summary Page
The Summary Page provides all known details about the opportunity in one place, if available from the source. Here’s what you’ll see:
- Title of the opportunity
- Procurement Stage
- Solicitation Number
- Contract Agency Office
- You can click this to visit the agency’s profile page
- Contracting Office Address
- Competition Type/Set-Aside
- Primary NAICS Code
- PSC Code
- Place of Performance
- Primary and Secondary Contact(s)
- Only shown if the data is available from the source
- Pipeline Stage/Status
- You can add this opportunity directly to a pipeline by selecting any of the pipeline stages or statuses you’ve already set up.

- You also have the option to add the opportunity to a lead list
- You can check one or more existing lead lists to instantly associate this opportunity.
- If you don’t see a relevant list, click “Manage Lists” to create a new one.
- You can add this opportunity directly to a pipeline by selecting any of the pipeline stages or statuses you’ve already set up.
- Import Dates
- Last Notice - date of the last posting
- Notice Response
- RFP (estimated)
- RFP Due (estimated)
- Milestones
- This section helps you track and manage your own timeline for this opportunity.
- Editable milestones: Award Date, RFP Due Date, RFP Date
- You can override these dates if you have updated info.
Overridden dates will not automatically update if the agency changes its timeline.
- Add your own milestones:
- Click the + button on the right side of the milestone box.
- Add a label (e.g., “Q&A Due Date”) and enter the date.
- Pipeline/User-Definded Fields

- This section displays any pipeline fields or user-defined fields you’ve created for tracking and organizing opportunities.
- These are fully customizable fields tailored to your organization’s needs.
- If you’ve added custom fields (e.g. priority level, owner, prime partner), you’ll see them displayed here.
- You can edit them directly on this page.

- This area allows you to link the opportunity to related contracts or internal records.
- Click “Add Association” to:
- Search for and associate an existing contract
- Or create a new contact directly
- Wayfinder AI
- Wayfinder AI summarizes what the opportunity is about, pulling the most critical elements from the original agency description and attachments (if available).
- It may extract key sections such as:
- Scope of Work
- Evaluation Criteria
- Instructions to Offerors
- General Description
- To view the full agency posting, click “View Original Description” in the bottom-right corner of the WayFinder AI box.
The purpose is to save you time by highlighting the most relevant details so you don’t have to dig through attachments or scroll through lengthy PDFs to find the information that matters.
Review Key Details on the Potential Bidders
The Potential Bidders help you quickly identify which vendors are likely to bid on this opportunity based on their past performance. This section provides valuable insight for both competitive analysis and partnership strategy.
- Vendor Name - a list of companies predicted to be a good fit for this opportunity
- Clicking the vendor’s name opens their company profile
- Use the contact icon to view available contacts for that vendor
- Evaluations Metrics:

- Customer Intimacy
- Capability Fit
- Market Presence
- Total Fit - % represents overall alignment with the opportunity
- Each score is color-coded to reflect how strong the match is:
- Dark Blue = High match
- Medium Blue = Medium match
- Light Blue = Low match
These scores are calculated based on historical contracting activity and alignment with opportunity details.
Some users assume Potential Bidders lists vendors who already have submitted bids for this opportunity. However, this is only a predictive list, it shows contractors who are likely to bid based on their past performance, not a confirmed list of current participants.
Review Key Details on the Attachments Tab
The Attachments tab displays documents that are pulled directly from the original source posting (e.g., SAM.gov or the agency’s procurement site).
- Click to download any document listed
- Open and review attachments directly in your browser or save them locally
- No limit to how many files you can access
Review Key Details on the Notice History
The Notice History provides a timeline of all formal notices related to the opportunity. Each entry reflects the official posting date and notice type.
- If multiple notices were issued over time, they will be listed in chronological order.
- Clicking on a notice date will redirect you to the original source site (e.g., SAM.gov) to view the official posting directly.
This helps you track the full lifecycle of the opportunity and understand how it evolved.
Review Key Details on the Activity Tab
The activity tab shows your team’s collaboration and interaction with the opportunity.
- Notes - Internal/external observations, questions, or comments from team members
- Tasks - Action item tied to this opportunity
- Emails
- Calls
- Meetings
Team collaborations that entered here also appear on the right-hand sidebar of the opportunity page for easy visibility.
Review Key Details on the Document Tab
The documents tab allows you to upload and store documents related to the opportunity. This is a great place to capture:
- Meeting notes
- Capture plans
- Proposal drafts
