Navigating to the Contract Award Page
- Click the Research tab in the top menu (top left).
- Select Awards & Task Order.
- Click Search under Contract Awards.
- From the search results, click the title of any contract award you want to view.
Key Sections of the Contract Page
Summary Tab (Default View)
The Summary tab provides an overview of all available contract details. Here’s what you’ll find:
- Contract Title/Name
- Contract ID/Number
- Contractor
- Add to Pipeline Button:
- Buying Agency/Office
- Contracting Agency/Office
- Obligations to Date
- Ceiling Value
- Contract Type
- Award Date
- Ultimate Completion Date
- Competition Set-Aside
- Type of Contract Pricing

- User-Defined Fields:
- Custom fields you or your team have created.

Modifications/Amendments Tab
- View all changes, modifications, or amendments to the original contract.
- Each entry includes a description, date, and (if applicable) updated value.
Always check this tab for the most current contract information.
Team/Subcontractors Tab
- Lists the prime contractor and any known subcontractors.
- May include roles, work percentages, and contact information.
Funding/Spending Tab
- Shows a breakdown of funding over the contract’s lifetime.
- View obligated funds, disbursed funds, and remaining funds.
- Helps you assess the contract’s financial health.
Documents Tab
- Upload and store documents related to the contract.
- Best Practice: Only upload documents after adding the record to a pipeline stage.
Activity Tab
- Displays all internal collaboration activities for this contract award.
Actions Button
- Located at the top right, above the Contract Award title.
- Click to access Similar Opps:
- Federal Compass often intelligently links to related contracts or upcoming opportunities.
- This can be invaluable for identifying follow-on work, similar contracts, or competitor activities.
Collaboration Links (if available)
- Notes: Add personal notes for this contract.
- Tasks: Assign tasks and due dates to team members.
- Email: Track emails sent regarding this contract.
- Phone Calls: Log calls made about the contract.
- Calendar: Log meetings related to the contract.
Tips and Best Practices
- Leverage Hyperlinks: Click on agency names, contractor names, contract/task order/BPA numbers for deeper research.
- Start with the Summary Tab: Get a quick overview before exploring other sections.
Common Mistakes and How to Avoid Them
- Confusing Award Value with Obligated Funds:
- Award Value is the total potential value.
- Obligated Funds (see Funding/Spending tab) is the actual money committed to date.
- Overlooking Modifications:
- Always check the Modifications/Amendments tab for updates.
- Ignoring PSC/NAICS Codes:
- These codes help you find similar contracts and understand market trends.
